Colonel Michael D. Reilly

Col Reilly was commissioned in Dec 1994 and upon graduation from TBS and the Infantry Officer’s Course reported to 3rd Bn, 5th Mar in Camp Pendleton, CA for duty as a Rifle Platoon Commander.

 

After completing a deployment with the 31st MEU(SOC), Col Reilly was assigned duties as the 81mm Mortar Platoon Commander. In this capacity he deployed to the US-Mexican border in support of JTF-6 Counter-Drug Operations.

 

Upon completing a lateral move to the Intelligence MOS, Col Reilly completed the MAGTF Intel Officer’s Course in 1998 and reported to the 1st MARDIV G-2 for duties as the Collection Management Officer.

 

Col Reilly served in this capacity until 1999 when he reported to 3rd Bn, 1st Mar to serve as the Intelligence Officer (S-2). During this period he deployed with the 13th MEU(SOC) and conducted Operation STABALIZE in East Timor and Operation UNIFIED REPSONSE in Aden, Yemen in response to the bombing of the USS Cole.

 

Upon return from deployment, Col Reilly reported to the Defense Intelligence Agency, Joint Staff J-2 for duty in the Crisis Operations Division. Col Reilly survived the attack on The Pentagon on 9/11 and deployed with a National Intelligence Support Team (NIST) to Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Qatar, & Yemen in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. While assigned to the Joint Staff J-2, he also completed yearlong assignments as a Briefing Editor for the J-2 and as the Deputy Director of the National Joint Military Intelligence Center (NMJIC).

 

In June 2004, Col Reilly reported to the III MEF G-2 in Okinawa, Japan for duty as the Future Operations & Deputy Operations Officer. In addition to completing numerous PACOM exercises and counter-terrorism subject matter expert exchanges (SMEEs), Col Reilly participated in Operation UNIFIED ASSISTANCE, the S.E. Asian Tsunami HA/DR, as the CSF-536 C-2 Operations Officer.

 

In June 2007, Col Reilly reported for duty as the Commanding Officer, Company H, Marine Cryptologic Support Battalion (MCSB) in San Antonio, TX. In this capacity Col Reilly’s company directly supported National Security Agency – Texas (NSA-T) and he was certified as a National Cryptologic Schools (NCS) Faculty Instructor.

 

In August 2010, Col Reilly reported for duty as the Operations Officer, II MEF(FWD) G-2. Upon deployment to Camp Leatherneck, AF in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM Col Reilly served as the Deputy AC/S C-2, Regional Command (South-West) from March 2011March 2012. Upon return to Camp Lejeune, NC Col Reilly served as the AC/S G-2, 2d MEB.

 

In June, 2013 Col Reilly assumed command of the 3d Intelligence Battalion and supported humanitarian assistance operations in the Philippines and Nepal. In June 2016 Col Reilly reported to the Joint Advanced Warfighting School (JAWS) and upon graduating was certified as a MAGTF Planner.

 

Col Reilly is married to the former Ms. Amy Rimmer of Ft Worth, TX. They reside on NAF Atsugi with their two sons and one daughter: Joshua, Connor, and Anna.
