Commanding Officer, CATC Camp Fuji
Colonel Scott D. Welborn

Originally from Missouri, Colonel Scott Welborn was commissioned in the Marine Corps in 2001. An artillery officer by background, he holds the additional military occupational specialty of Marine Air Ground Task Force Planner.

Colonel Welborn’s operational assignments include 1st Battalion, 12th Marines as an artillery officer with Battery A; 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit as the targeting officer and fire support officer; 1st Battalion, 10th Marines as a battery commander, battalion operations officer, and battalion executive officer; U.S. Marine Corps Forces Northern Command as the strategy and plans officer; 11th Marines as the regiment operations officer; 2d Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company as the commanding officer; and III Marine Expeditionary Force as the G-35 future operations officer.

Colonel Welborn’s operational deployments include two Unit Deployment Program rotations to Okinawa including support to Operation Unified Assistance, the 2005 tsunami relief efforts in Southeast Asia; two Landing Force Fifth Fleet/Sixth Fleet deployments; and one deployment to Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

His supporting establishment assignment was with Marine Corps University as Command and Staff College faculty.

Colonel Welborn holds a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College, a Master of Military Art and Science degree in Theater Operations from the U.S. Army School of Advanced Military Studies, a Master of Arts degree in Management from Webster University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Missouri.
