Sergeant Major, Camp Fuji
Sergeant Major Restituto D. Paz

Sergeant Major Paz enlisted into the Marine Corps on 1 March 1994 and went recruit training with 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Delta Company, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. 

     In June 1994, Private First Class Paz completed Marine Combat Training at Camp Lejeune, N.C. He received orders to attend the Marine Corps Cannon Crewman Course located in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Upon graduation from his MOS school, he received orders to Lima Battery 3rd Battalion 12th Marines, Okinawa Japan for duty as Field Artillery Cannoneer. In August 1995, Lance Corporal Paz was re-assigned with 1st Battalion, 11th Marines located in Camp Pendleton, California with Charlie Battery 1st Battalion 11th Marines. During this period, Corporal Paz deployed with 11th Marines Expeditionary Unit (MEU), Battalion Landing Team 3/1 as part of Unit Western Pacific deployment program.

     In February 1998, Sergeant Paz received orders and was assigned to 1st Battalion, 12th Marines located in Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii where he assumed the duties of a Howitzer Section Chief. From 1999 to 2001, Sergeant Paz participated on multiple deployment to Okinawa, Japan as part of Unit Deployment Program. In May 2000, he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and assumed the duties of the Platoon Sergeant and Battery Gunnery Sergeant. In June 2002, Staff Sergeant Paz received orders to Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, Calif. Upon completion of Drill Instructor School, he was assigned to Company B, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, as a Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor. In January 2005, he was transferred to Headquarters and Service Battalion and assigned to Instructional Training Company as the Academic Instructor for the Recruit Training Regiment Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Calif.

     In October 2005, Staff Sergeant Paz received orders back to 1st Battalion 12th Marines for duty as the Platoon Sergeant. In January 2006, he was deployed with Charlie Battery 1/12 to Okinawa Japan as part Unit Deployment Program. In July 2006, he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and assumed the duties and responsibilities of the Battery Gunnery Sergeant. From 2006 to 2009, Gunnery Sergeant Paz participated in two deployments with 1st Battalion 12th Marines in lieu of Task Force Military Police mission in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

     In February 2010, Gunnery Sergeant Paz was promoted to First Sergeant and received orders to 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment for duties as Company L, Inspector-Instructor First Sergeant located in Columbus, Ohio. In April 2013, First Sergeant Paz received orders to 3d Supply Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 35, Okinawa Japan. Upon arrival, he was assigned as a Company 1stSgt for Headquarters and Service Company. In August 2013 he assumed the duties of Company 1stSgt for Supply Company, 3d Supply Battalion. In January 2014 until April 2014, he was deployed to Gwang Yang South Korea as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for the Landing Force Support Party, 3d Marine Expeditionary Brigade in support of Cobra Gold Exercise 2014.

     In April 2015, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major and assumed the duties of Marine Wing Support Squadron 172 Sergeant Major. During this time, he was deployed to Camp Fuji, Japan in support of unit level training and to the Republic of the Philippines in support of Balikatan Exercises. In November 2016, he assumed the billet of Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 Sergeant Major. During this period, Sgt. Maj Paz deployed with 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit as the Aviation Command Element Sgt. Maj. In January 2019, he was transferred to Marine Corps Cyberspace Warfare Group in Ft Meade, Maryland to assumed the billet of the Group Sergeant Major. In May 2020, he assumed his current billet as Combined Arms Training Center, Camp Fuji Command Sergeant Major.

     His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal with four gold stars (in lieu of 5th Award) and the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal.
